The House On Blackstone Moor

Book Description:
"They say my father was mad, so corrupted by evil and tainted by sin that he did what he did. I came home to find them all dead; their throats savagely cut. My sisters only five and eight were gone as well as my brother who was twelve. My mother too lay butchered in her marriage bed. The bed her children were born in..."
Young Rose Baines discovers the savage murders of her family by her mad, incestuous father.

She is plunged into a nightmare of hell and is incarcerated in two madhouses after which she is helped to obtain a position as governess at Blackstone House.

The house is located on haunted moorland. Nothing is as it seems for Blackstone House and its inhabitants have hideous secrets. There is unimaginable horror there but there is love too--love that comes at a terrible price.

The story is as haunting as it is terrifying and will remain with the reader long after its disturbing tale has been told.

My Thoughts:
‘The House on Blackstone Moor’ blew me away. This book is so intensely dark and twisted and will take you on a journey that will change you forever. Rose, is a young woman who goes through hell and back nearly literally, her family is brutally murdered by the hands of her own father. After years of being tortured in many ways by her demented father she loses her whole family and before she knows what is happening she is admitted to a insane asylum. She doesn’t know where to turn and who to trust. She just focuses on getting out of the hell whole she calls home for the time being. The only person she really confides in is her doctor, Dr. Bannion and he gets her a job outside of the asylum. She is to a governess to a well-established family, or so it seems.

After she moves in with this family and begins to take care of the children she slowly starts to realize things that are very strange the problem is she has nowhere else to go and she simply adores the children. What is a girl to do when she has no family left and everyone is convinced she is crazy?

This book is so intriguing and dark, it contains so many gothic elements and the story keeps taking so many twists and turns that you will have absolutely no idea what is going to happen next. It is in a certain way a paranormal romance but definitely a lot different than a lot of the other ones out there. I truly could not put this book down, I finished it in three days between going to work, that it how captivating it was. It was amazing and deliciously dark, I loved it.

Night Magic: A Wing Slayer Novel

Night Magic: A Wing Slayer Novel
Jennifer Lyon
Ballantine Books
ISBN: 978-0345520067
Publishing Date: March 22, 2011
Genre: Paranormal, Romance

Book Description:

THEIR LOVE IS DESTINED TO RISE AGAIN

Ailish Donovan is a witch ready to do battle. Raised unaware of her powers, she is just sixteen when her mother tricks her into binding with the demon Asmodeus. Pure-hearted Ailish escapes with the connection incomplete but pays a heavy price: For the next eight years, she is shunned by her earth sisters and tormented by Asmodeus’s lust. After hardening her body and mind as a champion kickboxer, Ailish returns home to break the bond—or die.

The Wing Slayer Hunter Phoenix Torq is sworn to protect earth witches, but he is shaken by Ailish’s fierce independence—and his own forbidden cravings. Dark, impulsive, and haunted by his troubled past, Phoenix likewise arouses Ailish in ways she finds disturbing—and irresistible. Torn between mistrust and desire, each must go to hell and back to seek the magic that could set them both free.

My Thoughts:
‘Night Magic’ raised the stakes of the Wing Slayer novels. I have loved both of the previous novels in this series but this one truly blew me away. I mean her sexy witch hunters will keep your pulse racing and make your keep turning the page in any book but this couple was intense, and the story that went along with them was unlike anything I have ever read before.

I have yet again been brought to tears and not been able to put the book down, thanks to the brilliance that Jennifer puts into words in these novels. I am absolutely in love and obsessed with these books and their delicious characters, as soon as I finish writing this review I am going to start the fourth book in fact.

If you think you have the way the couples go figured out than this book will blindside you, trust me. Ailish Donovan is a blind witch who has trained to be a great boxer due to the fact that she has been tricked into a handfast with the demon Asmodeus. All Ailish ever wanted to do was good and be an earth with and help people. Will our hero Phoenix be able to save her or will she give into the demon and become a demon witch?

There was so much depth to this plot, so many twists and turns that it was such an amazing rollercoaster ride. I was rooting for Ailish and Phoenix throughout the whole book but you really have no idea what truly in store for these two. This one had me completely guessing until the very end and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

The Wing Slayer hunters and their witches have truly become some of my favorite characters and I would highly recommend this sexy, action-packed, paranormal romance to anyone looking for a good book to sink their teeth into.

Update and explanation! Important please read!!!

So I know I kind of up and left with a very little explanation and I am very sorry for that. I really got hit with a brick of tragedy here and I just got overwhelmed and had to do what was best for my family and I didn't think this blog was of dire importance at the time. So I am starting to get my self back on track and I thought I would explain what is going on and give you a little peak into my personal life at the moment.

What hit me so hard was that my mother was diagnosed with cancer. See my mom has been sick for about 8 months, she has been in and out of the hospital and the doctors kept telling her it was small things at first, the flu, UTI's, then it was nothing's wrong with you. We were getting nowhere, well during that eight months the cancer spread so finally when she was diagnosed, what started as cervical cancer spread and grew uncontrollably. She now has cervical, ovarian, uterine, bladder, stomach, and intestinal cancer. They did a surgery but couldn't get it all. My mother now has to go through six week of radiation and then six months of chemotherapy to fight for her life, she is in stage three and we are very unsure if they can put in remission but we will damn well try.

I am the oldest of three children, I have two younger sisters they are 10 and 12 and you cannot imagine the toll this has taken on them, to hear their mom has this very scary disease and might not make it. Especially after all we have been through, just three years ago my father suffered a massive stroke and suffered right side paralysis and lost his speech. By the grace of God he is able to walk again and function for the most part but his speech and comprehension is still far from perfect. My father was 37 when he had his stroke my mother is 39, this has all happen so suddenly and I have become the caretaker for not only my sister but both my parents as well.

So when I posted that message, my fiance and I had made the decision to move back in with my parents so we could take care of them and the kids and get my mom to her treatments as well as help with the bills that are piling up due to them both being out of work now.

I am slowing getting back to my books, and I do plan on doing reviews for every book and author I promised one too it just may take some extra time. I just ask some patience and understanding from all of you. I do not want to lose my readers or my authors you all mean so much to me. So to all the authors that got emails from me I do still want to review your books and I do plan on doing them slowly, my request form is going to remain closed for the time being until I can catch up because I have about 20 reviews to do at the moment.

We are having a benefit for my mom this weekend and if anyone is intrested in contributing or donationing please visit this page for the information

Thank you all for your time and understanding, please keep my family in your prayers ♥
